Critical thinking will be an essential work skill for 2020, according to The American Genius.
Heck, it doesn’t take a genius to recognize how important is the skill of critical thinking right this very minute – but that’s another topic.
What The American Genius is trying to tell us the work place is changing, jobs descriptions are changing – work itself is changing – as we move deeper into the 21st Century and our work skills will need to change with it.
Social intelligence and the ability to work in different cultural settings will be just as important by 2020 as learning to think critically, according to The American Genius predictions.
“Perhaps the most important is the ability to determine the deeper meaning of what is being expressed: the job market will need critical thinkers, with more and more data being pushed through; the ability to decipher and interpret results will be paramount,” explains The AG.
“Right behind critical thinking is social intelligence: being able to connect to someone in a deep, direct, and meaningful way could be the difference between making a deal and losing one.
“With the expansion of technology across the globe, more and more cultures will be working together to solve problem, making it imperative that you possess the necessary to adapt to a multicultural, multilingual setting.”
Here’s a handy little graph with art which gives a nice overview of work skills required by 2020. But why wait?
