Social media is dynamic media – and by that we mean, of course, the social media are ever changing, shifting, evolving, growing and in constant state of flux.
The energetic and progressive nature of the social media is partly why they have become such attractive platforms for nearly all those who venture online for business or sport.
The flip side of all the potent tools is the challenge of keeping up, staying current with the ever-changing social landscape; learning how best to use the tools as they alter themselves to keep pace with users. It’s a circle. Some might see it as vortex. We see it as potential.
And just like the social channels themselves trends on the social channels are always emerging. Spotting trends, acting on them can be subjective, of course, subject to perspective and history and, well, “likes.” (We all “like” or prefer some social channels over others. That’s natural.)
Editor’s Note: Like the rest of our nation, our hearts also go out to the #UCCshooting victims, the community of Umpqua Community College & Roseburg, Oregon. The Washington Post points out so far in 2015: 274 days, 294 mass shootings.
We offer, below, one take on social media trends for 2015 in a nicely prepared graph with art prepared by MDG, an advertising agency in Florida and New York.(Okay, “infographic”…guess we have to reluctantly acknowledge that to be an actual word now)
You can scan the graphic for yourself, of course, but it points out what MDG sees as substantial trends:
- Top three social channels for engaging customers: Facebook, Twitter & LinkedIn (Wha…?).
- Men continue more and more to populate Pinterest.
- Video on Facebook is a big hit. (See: 360-degree videos on FB).
- Making actual online purchases from the social platforms is booming.
- Messaging is the new social media black.
