For daily Twitter conversations, tweeting and retweeting, I use Twitter’s App on Android. Today, we explored a new feature of this mobile app: “View Tweet Activity”
See a short video on Instagram
This new mobile feature has not rolled out yet to all Twitter users and I suspect it’s still in testing mode. Let’s explore the details:
A click on “View Tweet Activity” shows the screen display of “Total Impressions” and “Total Engagement” this particular tweet received over its lifetime. It seems to be updated on an ongoing basis, when I returned to the screen a few hours back, the numbers were already updated.
Underneath the total numbers, it showed me the numbers per engagement method: How many replies or retweets and in % from the total impressions.
The particular tweet had at the moment of the screenshot 584 impressions and 16 Total Engagements, 1.2% of which were clicks on the link in the tweet.
So far we found eight different engagement methods are tracked:
- Link clicks: People click on a link in your Tweet.
- Favorites: People favored your Tweet.
- User Profile Clicks: People clicked on your profile picture or name.
- Replies: People replied to your Tweet.
- Retweets: People retweeted your Tweet.
- Detail expands: People clicked to expand your Tweet.
- Embedded Media Clicks: People viewed a photo or video in your Tweet.
- Hashtag Click: People clicked on a hashtag in your tweet.
Favorites, Retweets were already displayed on each tweet but the other six engagements actions are now also tracked, which can be quite helpful when trying to gauge the interest of your audience to make decisions on what to share and to stop sharing.
Now, just to make sure there is a new feature in the mobile app, so you can follow along the performance of your tweet when away from your computer.
Twitter provides Tweet Activity statistics for a while now. You can access those through the ad portal without actually having to buy an ad or leave a credit card.
Once you are logged in go to ads.twitter.com
Using the Tab: Activities > Tweet gets you to the same stats as your mobile “View Tweet Activity”
Here you are able to drill down in history and other aspects of your Twitter activities.
Starting today, the Tweet activity dashboard is available to Android users on their mobile phones. Read more here: https://t.co/Ydvz2rtkeP
